More About Me

I entered the grant writing profession in 2019 as a Grants & Contracts Officer at Georgia State University managing multiple million dollar grants from the federal government. During that time, I also supported small local community organizations with the full grant-seeking process, developing and submitting proposals to foundations, local governments, and corporations. Over the last 5 years, I have partnered with nonprofits to solidify their grant-seeking strategy, ensure grant readiness, consider and improve program design elements to increase fundability, and develop competitive and high quality proposals. I believe that women and young adult girls deserve the ability the take care of themselves, provide for their families, and contribute to their communities, no matter what background they come from or challenges they face. I have a BBA and MBA in Business Management and Administration from the University of West Georgia.

Frequently Asked Questions

Are you willing to work with organizations that don’t serve women and young adult girls?

Yes, I am open to working with organizations that do not serve women and young girls, if their mission aligns with the areas of workforce development, entrepreneurship education, or vocational training. While I am open to other organizations, I give priority to women and young girls. Ultimately, I want to do work that I am the most passionate about because I believe a shared passion for the cause is an additional benefit for my clients.

What is your win rate?

This is a common question. However, I do not track a win rate. Winning grant funding depends on much more than me or my skills as the grant writer. It depends mostly on your organization’s strategy and program implementation, proven success and impact, trustworthy leadership and more. My success working with other clients does not guarantee success in working with you if those other critical components are not in place or if there are unrealistic expectations and ineffective communication. I prefer to enter into new client relationships by creating a strategy to collaborate toward reaching their unique goals instead of focusing on what I have done for others. During our onboarding call, we will set goals tailored to the unique needs of your organization, and then create an effective strategy to meet them together.

If I can’t afford to pay for your services, can I pay you a percentage of the grant funds after they have been received?

No. Firstly, this is against the Grant Professionals Association’s code of ethics. It is also a disservice to me as a professional. I cannot guarantee when funds will be awarded, or if they will be awarded at all since each funder makes their own decisions. This means that I could risk not receiving proper compensation for the work we do together, which is unfair to me as a professional and not good business practices for your organization.

We are a new organization that just formed this year. Can you help us get grant funding fast so we can launch our programs?

I typically work with organizations that have been operating for at least 5 years. The organizations I work with have proof of income that is not reliant upon grant funding 100%. They can also show measures of success and impacts from the current or previous years. For organizations that are less than 5 years old or do not have the proper funding or impact requirements, I will happily refer you to other resources that will help you get in a better position to apply for and receive grant funding. I also encourage new organizations to remember that getting grants is not a “quick fix” to solve financial challenges. It takes time and strategy to be successful in the grant seeking process.

I only want help finding funding opportunities, but I will write the proposals myself. Can you help me with funder prospect research only

Funder prospect research is only included in the standard monthly package for foundation and corporate grants. I cannot provide prospect research as a stand-alone service at this time.

If I sign a contract with you, can you guarantee that we will win the grants we apply for?

Unfortunately, there is never a guarantee that you will receive the funds you apply for when submitting grant proposals. Each funder has their own selection process and is fully in control of who receives their support. There is always a risk that you will not be selected. However, we will create a strategy to reduce that risk as much as possible and to submit competitive proposals that have a higher chance of winning.

Why do you only offer contracts for 6 months or more? What if I only need a few hours of support or help with a one-time project?

I believe my grant writing services are most beneficial when there is an ongoing relationship between myself and the client. Ongoing working relationships allow for a deeper understanding of your work and needs, and it also gives us more time to see our efforts pay off since it could take at least 3 to 6 months, or longer, to receive a response from most funders. The services I provide are meant to provide consistency, reliability, and ongoing strategy cultivation that you would not get with just a few hours or a one-time project. All first-time clients begin with a preliminary 6-month contract, and then can renew for 12 months. Services for one-time projects are only available for government grants. If we work together, how often will we communicate and meet with each other to discuss the work?

Typically, I meet with my clients every other week. My goal is to free up your time and reduce unnecessary meetings. Some clients desire to meet just once a month, which is also ok. Alternatively, if your scope of work requires more frequent meetings, that can be arranged as well. However, I do ask that my clients remember that it’s better to spend more time doing the work than discussing the work. We will be in frequent communication with each other via email, as well as the comments and editing sections of each grant proposal draft.

What kinds of service packages do you offer and how much do they cost?

I’m glad you asked. For more information on the services offered and the costs, please visit the “Services” page.
